Is this a vintage or collectible item?
No. It is a working pager on a live network, sold with service included. It looks like 1997 because that hardware got it right the first time. You are buying a functioning communication device, not memorabilia.
Do you ship outside California?
No. Service only covers the California coverage area, so we only ship within California. Outside the state the pager would arrive with nothing to receive.
How does someone send me a message?
Three ways: they dial your pager number, they use a paging portal, or they email your pager's own address, which is your ten-digit pager number followed by @usamobility.net. Email is what most people use.
Can I reply to a page?
No. It is a one-way receiver, and that is deliberate. Nothing to configure, nothing to hack, no data plan to run out of.
How long does the battery last?
Weeks. It only ever receives, never transmits, so there is nothing to drain. One AA alkaline.
Does it work where my phone does not?
Often, yes. A paging transmitter is far more powerful than a cell tower and uses a lower frequency, so the signal pushes through concrete, lift shafts and hospital basements. There is also no network to congest, so paging keeps running when cell service goes flat.
